Maybe the woman would kick up a stink at first, until she looked at the jacket left behind and saw the brand name. Sipping on the luke warm beverage, she waited until the other woman took her leave to the bathroom and then swiped the woman's jacket, already half out of the door before her arms were through the sleeves. Carrying herself like any other punter, Coco took off the heavy duty coat draping it over the back of her chair. Swinging the black pack back over her shoulder, Coco simply walked away.įirst, she headed to a nearby café entered, paid for a coffee in cash and sat down near a woman who roughly looked her size. Retrieving the backpack, she went through the motions of locking it, pretended to rummage in the trunk for the benefit of what might pass for CCTV and casually 'forgot' the keys when she closed the trunk, counting on the inviting lure resulting in the vehicle ending in a chop shop before the night was out. Ripping off the decals replacing them with a second set, Coco circled back merging with traffic slipping from lane to lane, driving for miles, until she arrived at a vast open carpark known to be a target of thieves. ![]() ![]() Leaving it in a decrepit neighbourhood would make it obvious and the river was out of the question as too bombastic. Burning it out would only draw attention. Taking a winding route, dumping the plates and bags from the trunk at various locations along the way, she drove as far as she could. First, Coco unscrewed the plates, replacing them with temporary vinyl decals, and then she set out. So, only after she was certain Anesidora was out for the count and wouldn't wake for a while, did she pack a ten a penny plain black rucksack, put on a wig, made up her face to change her appearance and head out. The consequences didn't dare thinking about. Maybe she was being too cautious, but she didn't want to leave anything behind that could be unearthed and linked back to her or her family. It was far too risky to leave it in her garage incase ever anyone came snooping. It was a write off, of course, and needed to disappear. The Rover was a whole other kettle of fish. Swapping out the plates on her Mercedes town car for a set that she had been holding onto for a dire emergency and making sure a bug out bag was readily available. Things like burning what she could, including Anesidora's destroyed clothes, and double bagging the rest leaving them in the trunk of the compromised vehicle. But for every time she found herself hovering in the doorway with the muzzle of the pistol aimed at the helpless and vulnerable assassin, she found herself doing something to cover their tracks and working towards their escape. Through out the time she spent scrubbing the blood out of the backseat of the Range Rover, cursing at the bleach biting into the detailing - it had seeped into the carpeting and no amount of cleaning would entirely remove it - she still couldn't settle.ĭeep down Coco knew what she should do to ensure her survival. She seemed to find respite in the heiress laying a cool hand on her brow, or a gently dabbed refreshing cloth.įrom the hallway, the brunette kept an ever watchful eye whilst she called Estella, explaining how something had come up at work and apologising for cutting her visit short. Coco kept vigil, making sure to follow Gregori's instructions to the letter watching how the White Rabbit's face pinched and twitched an outward indication of inner demons waging war in a realm where Coco could not tread. Occasionally, Anesidora would stir mumble something unintelligible before sinking back into the soft bedding. On high alert, she froze at any sound she deemed out of the ordinary, pistol raised whilst she padded swiftly and silently towards it to investigate, expecting to come upon battle grizzled mercenaries trussed up in funeral suits creeping through windows like Agent Smith in the Matrix. ![]() Wherever she went, the gun was never far from her reach. Over the next two days, Coco prowled round her apartment unable to sleep for any decent amount of time.
